Mr Richards was hired with JB Hunt in February of 2011 and has been a solid, dependable driver for the Home Depot account since that time. Historically drivers are awarded the honor of representing our region based on simple criteria such as operational consistency ( on time service and reliability) attitude and also safety performance. Mr Richards possesses all of those qualities but on January 8th was hailed as a hero. While driving on I-78 in Salisbury Twp Pa near the Summit Lawn exit Mr Richard came upon a serious collision on the eastbound side of the highway involving multiple vehicles. Mr Richards rendered assistance to two of the motorist (another Tractor trailer driver and passenger) involved by pulling them from the vehicle just prior to the vehicle becoming engulfed in flames. That type of act is selfless and shows the type of person that Mr Richards is. The local media published the story in the Morning Call newspaper and displayed his picture. For his selection as DOM he will receive a certificate of appreciation, a letter from the VP of operations, a $300 cash award and also have his picture displayed at the DCS headquarters in Lowell Arkansas, every location throughout the NE region and also have his name displayed on the plaque at our hiring center in NJ. In addition Mr Richards will be eligible for the prestigious driver of the year award along with the other 2014 NE region drivers of the month.
