While Mike was learning the job, in 2013, he had the
opportunity to deliver to every store serviced out of Hatfield, MA. Mike learned
every borough accident free. Early in Mike’s career he demonstrated the ability
to learn quickly, and furthermore, to teach others the job efficiently as well.
He was quick to grasp Peoplenet and utilize its strengths to make the job more
efficient. He led the way in teaching new drivers how to use it properly. He
takes his responsibility seriously.
Michael has grown to become a super trainer. As a result he
lives and breathes our values and culture. He has trained over thirty
successful new hires throughout his career and his retraining techniques have had
a direct influence on decreasing turnover and reducing accident frequency.
Mike once stated he trains because someone once gave him a
shot at making this job his career. He has a desire to give the same
opportunity to every driver that comes through his cab. Mike believes that for
the job to be done, it must be done right, or it will not be a career.
Being an over the road driver once before, Mike is quick to
remind drivers of why he came to J.B. Hunt and why what we have to offer is far
better than the competitor.
Michael is currently at 190,000 safe driving miles and
counting. For his selection he will receive a certificate of achievement, a cash award and his picture displayed throughout the northeast region at each DCS location and at the company headquarters in Lowell Arkansas. In addition Michael becomes eligible for the prestigious driver of the year being selected in January.
