Please join me in congratulating Ed Darko from the C&S Windsor Locks CT location for being selected as the May 2014 NE Region Driver of the Month.
The article below was submitted by his account management:
Ed Darko has the basic foundations of all the great J.B.
Hunt drivers – reliable, hardworking, dedicated, and hungry. Ed also has one of those charismatic
personalities that everybody gravitates to – always smiling, a jovial presence,
and infectious laughter. Having these
traits makes Ed a joy to have at the C&S Windsor Locks account, but he is
also a leader.
On a day in and day out basis, Ed runs our most challenging
loads. A typical day for Ed consists of
three to four stop hand unload Key Food deliveries which take Ed about 12 – 14
hours to complete. Ed uses specialized
equipment such as electric and manual pallet jacks and lift gates. Back on May 22, Ed completed a three stop Key
Food delivery in Brooklyn, NY. Ed then
went to the aid of a fellow driver to deliver his electric pallet jack to the
driver after the driver’s pallet jack broke down. Ed did not only drop off his pallet jack to
the other driver, but he stayed and helped the driver complete his unload. This is usually a weekly occurrence for
Ed. To top off a great month, Ed had the
privilege of doing a ride along with the Senior Vice-President of Safety, Greer
Woodruff while completing a challenging delivery in NY City which used every
bit of their 14 Greer stated
“I've
had a great day. Eddie is very skillful- tough backing situations, he knows
local roads, very safe. FCW has not beeped once. Very good attitude and
pleasant to be with. Greer”
Greer was so impressed with Ed’s performance, that he is publishing
an interview with Ed in the driver spotlight on the Corporate Homepage for all
to see.
Throughout our transition at Windsor Locks, Ed has been
instrumental in boosting driver morale and assisting in driver retention. He has facilitated continued progress in
Windsor Locks, and is an outstanding model driver for the Windsor Locks account!
Ed Darko is the Windsor Locks Driver of the Month, the
Archer OM Region Driver of the Month and has been recognized by Greer Woodruff the
Senior Vice President of Safety himself as a very safe, knowledgeable and
having a great attitude which is deserving of the regions recognition as
Northeast Driver of the Month.
For his selection Mr Darko will receive a letter from the Vice President of operations Michael Lupo, A certificate of recognition, a $300.00 cash award and his picture displayed at the corporate headquarters in Lowell Arkansas. He will also have his name engraved on the driver of the month plaque at the New Jersey hiring center and all DCS locations will post his photo. Lastly Mr Darko will become eligible for the prestigious Driver of the year along with the other winners in 2014.
Congratulations Ed!
