Northeast Region Driver of the Month - November 2016

Please join me in congratulating Toledo Sharp from C&S  Windsor Locks in Connecticut for being selected as the northeast region driver of the month for November 2016.  I have included the nomination article submitted by the Windsor Locks management team.  A very influential and deserving employee who will get consideration for Driver of the year along with the other winners in 2016.
.
Toledo has been with the company since 2013, when he was hired on at the C&S acquisition. It did not take long for Toledo to gain notice at the account, as he quickly proved his commitment to safety. Toledo earned a position as a trainer and has since moved on to become one of our super trainers. Toledo has trained many of the drivers at our account, who, to this day, speak highly of the influence he had on them during the training process. Furthermore, whenever we have a driver struggling with safety and do not know how best to approach assisting him, we send him with Toledo, as he has the ability to pinpoint driving flaws that otherwise go unnoticed by the average observer.
Operationally, Toledo forms the backbone of our account. No matter what the assignment, no matter how difficult or how long it takes, Toledo will cover anything asked of him. From layover runs, to hand offloads, to rescues, to OTR assignments, if there is a need, Toledo is there. Toledo has gone above and beyond to help out, so much so that he is the account’s go-to driver for charitable causes, having been chosen in the past to drive for both Wreaths Across America and C&S foodbank donations as well as being the company representative at the C&S annual picnic for 2 years running. Throughout all these extra assignments, Toledo routinely works six days, to the extent that a week on which he does not work six days draws attention as a rare occurrence.

Even though it is easy to observe Toledo’s success through his achievements as a driver, his soundness is not limited to the tractor. Toledo practices a personal philosophy of positivity. He does not let the bad get him down. He focuses on the good and uses hard work to drive him forward. To Toledo, a full day not worked is a day of missed potential.  Anyone who spends time at our account will soon encounter Toledo’s sage advice, as, when he is not on the road, Toledo is often found helping out around the office, boosting the morale of the fleet and assisting anyone who comes to him for assistance, whether through providing directions, safety tips, or, even, words of wisdom about life.
